TIME Magazine Persons of The Year

Illustration created for an MFA assignment designed to highlight a person or people who are thought to be influential or impactful within a community. The Cajun Navy 2016 co-founders are depicted with their rescue boat and the Blue Ridge Mountains to memorialize ongoing work this nonprofit organization has done since September 27th 2024, the day Hurricane Helene destroyed the mountains of Western NC. As a resident of Black Mountain, NC., I have seen firsthand the direct impact the Cajun Navy 2016 has on the rescue and recovery process.
